Opposition parties continue Dail protest

Opposition parties have begun their second day of boycotting Dail business today, with only a handful of Government TD’s in the chamber to listen to the Minister for Justice speak on a European extradition bill.

The House is taking the unusual step of sitting on a Friday in order to speed up the passing of EU legislation aimed at tackling terrorism.

The parties remain determined to hold a censure debate on Donegal TD, Thomas Gildea, after his accusations against former Minister for Justice, Nora Owen.

Mr Gildea claimed she had accepted back-handers from cable television companies but later retracted his statement.
