SF slams unionist appointments to Human Rights Commission

Sinn Fein has claimed that the British Government caved in to unionist pressure by appointing two unionists to the North’s Human Rights Commission.

Four new members were appointed today: Chris McGimpsey of the UUP, the wife of Church of Ireland Archbishop Robin Eames, disabled activist Kevin McLaughlin and Patrick Yu, a representative of the North’s minority Chinese community.

Sinn Fein welcomed the appointment of Mr McLaughlin and Mr Yu, but said the inclusion of the other two indicates that unionists applied pressure to have their supporters installed.
