The four worker directors of Irish Sugar are calling for an immediate resumption of beet supplies to plants in Carlow and Mallow in order to secure jobs at the company.

In a statement this evening they say the future viability of the factories and the livelihoods of the employees is at risk. The two plants had been closed because of an ongoing dispute with the IFA over beet prices.
