A 38-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years in prison today after being convicted of manslaughter in connection with an attack on Tallaght garda station in 1999.

A 38-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years in prison today after being convicted of manslaughter in connection with an attack on Tallaght garda station in 1999.

The presiding judge, Mr Justice Paul Carney, directed the jury to find Danny O’Toole, from Cashel Avenue in Crumlin, guilty of manslaughter.

Mr O’Toole entered Tallaght garda station in July 1999 and set the foyer alight with petrol and flares. Sgt Andrew Callanan died while trying to extinguish the blaze.
