Ahern stresses his support for attacks on Afghanistan
The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has reiterated the Irish government’s "unstinting support" for the US military attacks on Afghanistan.
The taoiseach was giving an address to the Kennedy School of Government in Harvard University.
However, Mr Ahern also stressed the need for a political and humanitarian effort in the impoverished Middle Eastern country.
Mr Ahern used the address to talk about the positive developments in the Irish peace process and thanked the US for its support in the North.
He will meet US President George W Bush later today.
