Man arrested in Rosemary Nelson murder probe

Detectives investigating the murder of human rights lawyer Rosemary Nelson have arrested a man near Bristol in England today.

The man, 29, was detained at Burnham-on-Sea, according to a spokesman for Norfolk Constabulary.

The inquiry is being headed by the deputy Chief Constable of the force, Colin Port.

Mrs Nelson died when a loyalist booby trap bomb exploded under her car outside her home in Lurgan, Co Armagh, in March l999.

A spokesman confirmed the man detained today was being questioned about alleged terrorist offences. He is being held at a police station in England.

The Loyalist Volunteer Force, a breakaway paramilitary organisation, carried out the bombing, but nobody has yet been charged with Mrs Nelson's murder.
