Man to be charged with 71-year-old's murder

A 42-year-old man is due to appear in Dublin District Court today charged with murdering a 71-year-old man in north Dublin over the weekend.

John McAuliffe’s body was found outside his home in the Rosevale flats complex in Artane at around 7am yesterday morning.

He was stabbed three times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man due in court today was arrested nearby a short time later with apparent self-inflicted cuts to his wrists.
