Aer Lingus staff march on Dail

Around 1,000 Aer Lingus staff, their families and union activists have marched on the Dail to protest at what they believe is the Government’s mishandling of the current crisis facing the airline.

Politicians emerged from Leinster House to hear speeches from SIPTU general secretary Des Geraghty and ICTU general secretary David Begg.

Both men criticised the European Union over its principled opposition to state aid for airlines, while Public Enterprise Minister Mary O’Rourke was also lambasted over the Government’s failure to help the national airline.
