The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has urged the Government to make £846m worth of tax cuts in this year’s budget.

In its pre-budget submission, ICTU said Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy must not neglect public spending in areas such as infrastructure and health because of the downturn in the global economy.
