Ahern to press for consensus on abortion

The Taoiseach has said the proposed changes to the Constitution in the forthcoming referendum on abortion, are the "best possible".

Bertie Ahern told delegates at last night's Fianna Fail Ard Fheis that it was not possible to satisfy every viewpoint on the issue of abortion.

But he said the Government had set out to create a consensus on how to move forward.
