Two RUC officers have been hurt after violence erupted at a sectarian flashpoint in North Belfast.

Two RUC officers have been hurt after violence erupted at a sectarian flashpoint in North Belfast.

The disturbances flared in the Limestone Rd area, the scene of numerous clashes between catholics and protestants.

The RUC says that the confrontation involved about 50 people on each side and it lasted about half an hour.

One of the officers received an injury to the face while the other officer sustained leg wounds.
