New York remembers missing Irish
New York today remembers Irish victims of the World Trade Centre atrocity.
A special memorial service is being held in Manhattan for the 20 Irish people feared dead.
Minister for foreign affairs Brian Cowen will represent the Government.
The service is being held at the 19th century Trinity Church at the top of Wall Street.
The church was totally unaffected by the fall of the twin towers without even a window being smashed.
"It is a small miracle in a way," said Mayor Rudi Giuliani, "but the presence of that chapel standing defiant and serene amid the ruins of war sends an eloquent message about the strength of the people of New York and the people of America."
