Northern Ireland Secretary John Reid was today considering another suspension of Northern Ireland's political institutions in the hope that it would enable the IRA to move within the next six weeks on disarmament.

Northern Ireland Secretary John Reid was today considering another suspension of Northern Ireland's political institutions in the hope that it would enable the IRA to move within the next six weeks on disarmament.

Just hours after unionists joined nationalists in new policing structures, Dr Reid arranged talks with Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams to discuss the ongoing crisis over policing and weapons decommissioning.
