Cardinal urges caution in reaction to WTC attacks

Cardinal Desmond Connell has told the congregation of the special mass at the Pro-Cathedral in Dublin that terrorism is a "cowardly and cynical practice".

He added however, that the response to last Tuesday’s attacks must not show a disregard for innocent lives.

The Cardinal was speaking during the specially arranged mass which was attended by President Mary McAleese and the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern.

The cathedral was packed to capacity with mass goers who wished to show their support for the victims of last Tuesday’s attack.
