Two people died overnight in a collision between a car and a double decker bus in Dublin.

The accident happened on the Tallaght by-pass when a number 50 double decker bus was in collision with a car.

Two men, one aged in his thirties, the other in his fifties, were travelling in the car.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

It is thought they were from the West Dublin area.

A small number of bus passengers were treated for injuries and the driver was treated for shock.

As part of the investigation into the accident, video footage from the bus will be examined.

Meanwhile, a woman has died after her car collided with a wall at Ballykillmurray, Tullamore.

The deaths bring the number of people killed on the road so far this year to 260.
