Hanafin in Philippines for adoption agreement visit

The Minister for Children, Mary Hanafin, is to meet with officials in the Philippines today to discuss the signing of a bilateral agreement on inter-country adoption between the Irish Adoption Board and the Philippines authorities.

The agreement will facilitate Irish couples who wish to adopt children from the Philippines.

Ms Hanafin said she was impressed by what she had seen of the Filipino system and its practice of putting the child's interests first.
