Govt urged not to abandon unemployed

The Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed has urged the Government not to abandon social welfare increases in an effort to offset the economic slowdown.

The organisation has said it is concerned that the recent spate of high-profile job losses could knock social welfare increases off the Government’s agenda for the next budget.
