Sinn Fein welcomes poll results

Sinn Fein today seized on a poll revealing only a quarter of the British public believe Northern Ireland should remain an integral part of the United Kingdom.

The party urged Prime Minister Tony Blair to take the poll findings on board and said it was now clear that ‘‘nothing short of Irish unity and independence will suffice’’.
