Eames: Give policing plans a chance
The Church of Ireland Primate, Dr Robin Eames, has appealed to everyone to give the implementation plan on policing in the North a fair chance.
He was speaking after unionists withheld their endorsement of the plan allowing the noon deadline to pass.
Northern Secretary John Reid has indicated that he is prepared to wait for parties to sign up to the Police Board.
In a statement, Dr Eames said the proposal provided a basis for a new start. His comments were echoed by the Bishop of Derry, James Mahaffy.
