State may fund education for autistic man
The mother of a 19-year-old autistic man has been granted leave by the High Court to seek an order directing the State to fund his education for the next academic year.
Jacqueline Berg, from Sandyford in Dublin, said her son Philip needs a specialised training facility to meet his educational needs.
This is the first application of its kind since the Supreme Court ruled on the Jamie Sinnott case that the obligation of the State to provide education ends at the age of 18.
