Breakthrough in canal body investigation
Gardai in Dublin believe they have identified the murdered man who was pulled from the Royal Canal in a suitcase 15 days ago.
He is a non-national from eastern Europe who gardai believe had been living here for up to two years.
The breakthrough in the investigation came after the publication of the dead man's photograph on television and in the national press.
This resulted in a number of non-nationals making contact with the gardai.
They said they recognised the man and gardai say they are now satisfied his identity has been established.
Efforts are underway to contact the murder victim's family and his name will not be released until his family has been informed.
