90-year-old fighting for life after explosion
It has been confirmed that one man has died and two others have been injured, one seriously, in the explosion at the Lakelands Dairy plant in Killeshandra, Co Cavan.
The explosion happened as maintenance men carried out work in the boiler room of the plant.
A 90-year-old contract maintenance man was seriously injured in the explosion and is fighting for his life at Cavan General hospital.
No Lakeland Dairy's personnel were injured in the incident.
Locals in a nearby housing estate have been evacuated to the local community centre.
The plant is now closed and an investigation into the cause of the explosion is currently underway.
