A team searching for the Lough Ree Monster say their recordings of mysterious underwater noises will be analysed by scientists.

Swede Jan Sundberg caused controversy in Scotland earlier this year when he tried to capture the Loch Ness monster.

He now says the tapes will be handed over to scientists in Scandinavia in August.

The Lough Ree monster was famously witnessed by three priests in 1960 who said a large snake-like creature swam close to their boat.

It was then described as having an 18-inch-long long head with eyes, nose and ears rising out of the water.

Sundberg's Operation Horse Eel was completed in June and he has promised to publish the results on his website later this year.
