£46m funding for country's schools

Funding of £46m has been announced for the enhancement of caretaking and secretarial support in primary and secondary schools.

The Tanaiste is transferring the money from her Department, Enterprise, Trade and Employment, to the Department of Education.

Minister Michael Woods said the funding builds on other important initiatives to make improvements in this area.

He added that it will extend the capacity of schools to provide better maintenance services.
