Political polls to be banned

The Dail is expected to agree to ban the publication of opinion polls in the seven days prior to an election or referendum.

The move was first discussed by the Government a year ago and was suggested again by Fine Gael's Olivia Mitchell last week in a debate on the Electoral Amendment Bill.
