Aer Lingus appoints board to find new Chief Executive
Aer Lingus has appointed a sub committee to recruit a new Chief Executive to replace Michael Foley who was sacked amid sexual harassment allegations.
Company Secretary John O'Donovan has been appointed as acting chief executive.
On June 13, Michael Foley was finally sacked after weeks of controversy surrounding allegations by two senior female staff against him.
Mr Foley went to the High Court in a bid to stop the company taking disciplinary action against him, but after hearing the application, the court refused to extend an injunction against the family.
As Michael Foley continues to consider his next move, it was announced this afternoon that Aer Lingus had appointed a sub committee to manage the processing of recruiting a new group Chief Executive.
The board of Aer Lingus has also appointed company secretary John O'Donovan as the acting group chief executive.
Mr O'Donovan was not available for comment this afternoon.
It is not clear how long the sub committee will take to carry out the process of recruitment and select a new boss for the national airline.
