The trial of a man charged with the capital murder of Garda Sergeant Andrew Callanan has collapsed at the Central Criminal Court with the jury unable to reach a verdict.

The jury failed to reach the necessary majority to convict or acquit Daniel O'Toole of Cashel Avenue, Crumlin on charges of capital murder and murder after four hours and 35 minutes of deliberations.
