Bid to halt Trimble resignation

Prime Minister Tony Blair and Taoiseach Bertie Ahern are expected back in Northern Ireland tomorrow in a last-ditch bid to prevent David Trimble quitting as First Minister of the power-sharing executive.

Stormont sources indicated today that talks have been arranged at Hillsborough Castle, Co Down.
