A memorial service has been carried out at the site of the hostel fire that killed an Irish back packer in Australia last year.

Fifteen people were killed in the blaze, which 37-year-old Robert Long is awaiting trial on arson and murder charges in connection with the deaths.

The Irish Ambassador to Australia was one of those who attended the service in which candles were lit and prayers were read in the town of Childers.
