Gardai are still investigating the suspicious death of an eight-year-old boy at

Greystones in Co Wicklow.

The body of the boy was discovered by an off duty Garda at around 10.40pm last night as he supervised a boy scouts outing.

The body was found on the North beach in Greystones in an area usually frequented by anglers and walkers.

First aid was administered on the scene but the boy was pronounced dead on the scene by a doctor and he was then taken to Loughlinstown Hospital.

The father of the boy had reported him missing at around 9pm.

A Garda investigation is underway.
