Blanchett may play Veronica Guerin

Cate Blanchett is said to be in talks to star in a film about the murder of journalist Veronica Guerin.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joel Schumacher are said to be in discussions with her over Chasing The Dragon: The Veronica Guerin Story.

The film is likely to go into production in Dublin early next year.

Guerin was killed in June 1996 while waiting in her car at traffic lights, shortly after she penned a series of revealing articles about organised crime in the city.

Two men, Paul Ward and Brian Meehan, were later convicted of the murder.
