Valentia welcome Eircom decision

The Valentia consortium has this afternoon welcomed the decision of the Eircom board to recommend its offer for the fixed line business.

Sir Anthony O’Reilly says his consortium has unparalleled expertise and experience in telecommunications. He claims that by making its decision the Eircom board has "recognised this".

Sir Anthony says he is particularly aware of the importance of a developed and efficient telecoms infrastructure to Ireland’s competitive position in the international marketplace. He adds that his consortium is committed to this.

Valentia has been competing against a Denis O’Brien led consortium to takeover Eircom.
