Taxi licence for former criminal figure

The former underworld criminal figure known as "The Monk" has been granted the right to a taxi licence by Dublin District Court.

The former underworld criminal figure known as "The Monk" has been granted the right to a taxi licence by Dublin District Court.

The Dublin Carriage Office had opposed the granting of such a licence on the grounds that 38-year-old Gerry Hutch from Clontarf was being investigated by the Criminal Assets Bureau.

However, a member of CAB today told the court that Mr Hutch was now fully tax compliant.
