Two Ulster Unionist have been elevated to the House of Lords in the British

government's traditional pre-election honours list.

Both Ken Magennis and John Taylor recently resigned as MPs. Mr Magennis represented Fermanagh/South Tyrone and Mr Taylor Strangford, where he was also an MEP.

Both men became MPs on the same day 18 years ago and are both aged 63. Two of the five Conservatives being given seats are former Secretaries of State, Tom King and Peter Brooke.
