Tribunal hears of further links between Lowry and Moriarty
Fresh evidence of financial dealings between former minister Michael Lowry and businessman Denis O'Brien have been revealed at the Moriarty Tribunal.
One of them relates to the purchase of a Spanish property by Mr O'Brien from a Fine Gael supporter, where the proceeds ended up in Mr Lowry's offshore account.
In July 1996, Mr Lowry purchased a property in Blackrock, Co Dublin for £147,000, funded by a 100% bank loan.
In that October, Fine Gael supporter David Austin paid £147,000 into Mr Lowry's offshore Isle of Man bank account. That money was sourced from the sale of Mr Austin's house in Spain to Denis O'Brien.
Two other deals related to properties in Mansfield and Cheadle in the UK, which were bought by Mr Lowry and allegedly funded by Denis O'Brien accounts.
The four payments relate to a £50,000 donation from Telenor on behalf of Esat Telecom to Fine Gael.
Denis O'Brien has denied all links.
