MacStiofan buried under Conrad Na Gaeilge flag
Former IRA chief of staff Sean MacStiofan is due to be buried in Co Meath shortly.
The 73-year-old died last week following a long illness.
For a man of his prominence in the republican movement the turnout in Navan for the funeral has been described as disappointing.
Close on 400 have shown up and the funeral is more notable for who did not show up than who did.
Among those in attendance are Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams, Rory Duggan of the 32 County Sovereignty Committee, Joe Cahill and Dr Rose Dugdale.
The funeral mass was conducted entirely in Irish and there is a strong presence of members of Conrad Na Gaeilge.
MacStiofan's coffin was draped in a Conrad Na Gaeilge flag.
