Ahern still confident that Stadium Ireland will go ahead

The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern says he is determined that the Stadium Ireland project goes ahead.

Speaking in a Dublin hotel, Mr Ahern said he understands the price of the project should be subject to scrutiny.

But he added that he hoped that independent consultants drafted in to assess the stadium will take into account the previous outstanding performances of Irish sportsmen and women.
