Suspect foot-and-mouth samples sent to England today

Samples from a suspect foot-and-mouth case in Co Carlow are being sent to England for tests today.

The lamb, one of a herd from a farm in Kilbride, was found to have mouth lesions at the Ballon Meat Plant yesterday.

The Department of Agriculture has described the move as purely precautionary and has insisted that it is not overly concerned about the case.
