RUC break up Garvaghy loyalist protest
A group of about 200 loyalists laid siege to the Garvaghy Road in Portadown last night until they were dispersed by the RUC.
They shouted slogans and threw missiles at police dressed in riot gear for about 45 minutes at the town end of the road.
Residents' spokesman Brendan MacCionnaith said tension was rising in the area, two nights after a Catholic-owned bar was attacked in the town.
