Ruling on Gilligan assets due
The convicted drug’s baron John Gilligan, who is serving a 28-year-sentence for drug-trafficking, is expected to find out today if the state can move ahead to confiscate his assets.
The Special Criminal Court is expected to give judgement on a state application to have the High Court appoint a receiver to estimate his assets.
Gilligan’s assets allegedly include an equestrian centre at Jessbrook, two houses in Lucan, one in Blanchardstown, six vehicles, 16 bank accounts and over £5m he staked in bets.
The state is seeking to confiscate Gilligan’s proceeds from drug-trafficking, estimated to be in the region of £14.2m.
