'No verdict from court on unlawful killings' - Reid

The Northern Secretary John Reid has said it is important to point out that the European Court ruling on the shootings of IRA men this morning contained no findings of unlawful killings or a shoot-to-kill policy.

Dr Reid said the judgement did contain criticisms of procedures in relation to investigations and inquiries and that these would be "taken very seriously".

"We will read the judgement very carefully and we will do what we can to act upon it," he said.

"We have already started a review of inquiry proceedings under Jack Straw".
