Taxi drivers to discuss fare increases with Dublin Corporation
SIPTU taxi drivers in the city are to meet with Dublin Corporation tomorrow to discuss fare increases.
The union said drivers have been forced to work longer hours to absorb rising costs.
Branch official Gerry Brennan said drivers had received only a 15p increase in fares since 1984.
The Consumer Price Index had risen by 58.9% in the same period, while the average industrial wage had been upped by 132%, he said.
