Walsh announces limited animal movement resumption

The Minister for Agriculture has announced the resumption of some animal movements and leisure activities.

Stock holders can begin operating from tomorrow, along with livestock movements on fragmented farms.

Activities such as angling, hillwalking and pony-trekking can resume from May 11, while zoos and pet farms can reopen once suitable arrangements are in place.

However, farm-to-farm sales are to remain under review and marts are to remain closed for the foreseeable future.

The Minister also warned that the Republic will only be declared foot-and-mouth-free three months after the initial outbreak in Proleek.
