Government to approve Stadium review
The Government is expected to approve the terms of reference for a review of the Stadium Ireland project later this morning.
However, it will also face calls today from Fine Gael to halt all work on the campus.
The PDs demanded a review of the project following alarm at the level of spending on the 'Bertie Bowl'.
This morning, Sports Minister Jim McDaid will present the terms of reference of the review to Cabinet, which is then expected to be approved.
The review is expected to take three months during which no contracts will be signed but the controversy will not be put on hold for that duration.
Tonight, Fine Gael will put forward a private members motion in the Dail calling for a halt to all preparatory work on the stadium and condemning the spiralling costs of the project.
