RUC officers charged with perjury over Belfast murder
Two RUC men, whose evidence helped convict a man of murder, were today charged with perjury in Belfast.
Det Sgt David Kildea was charged on two counts and Det Const Nigel Kell appeared on one charge.
Both men have been suspended from duty.
Thomas Green, from north Belfast, was convicted in 1987 of murdering Catholic painter John O'Neill, who was battered to death outside a loyalist drinking club.
Mr Green spent 13 years in jail before being freed.
He is currently appealing his conviction.
