Slane boss welcomes new planning rules

The owner of Slane Castle in Co. Meath has welcomed Environment Minister Noel Dempsey's plans to simplify the application process for planning permission to stage large outdoor concerts.

The owner of Slane Castle in Co. Meath has welcomed Environment Minister Noel Dempsey's plans to simplify the application process for planning permission to stage large outdoor concerts.

However, he said that if a second U2 concert does go ahead this summer, it will be a once-off occurrance.

Mr Mountcharles said there are very few bands who could actually fill Slane twice.
