'Border Fox' to make legal bid for freedom today
Dessie O'Hare, the 'Border Fox', is to begin legal proceedings today in an
attempt to secure release from jail.
O'Hare, who has served 14 years of a 40-year sentence for the 1987 kidnapping of dentist John O'Grady, claims he is entitled to be released under the Good Friday Agreement.
Ten months ago, Fergal Toal and Ed Hogan, who were convicted of the same crime, were released under the Agreement.
O'Hare's lawyers are expected to argue today that he was a member of the INLA during the kidnapping, despite the organisation's attempts to disown him, and as such is entitled to early release.
