Pressure on Government to drop Sinnott case

There have been fresh opposition calls in the Dail for the state to drop its supreme court appeal in the Jamie Sinnott case.

The state is appealing a high court award to the autistic man's mother and a judgement securing the right to an ongoing education for people with special matters of considerable constitutional importance.

But Mr Ahern said whatever the decision of the court, a payment of £215,000 already handed over to the Sinnotts will not be recovered.
