Swansea Cork Ferries have issued a statement following the cancellation of its bank holiday sailings after a crew failed a second set of safety drills in Wales.

The newly-acquired vessel, the City of Cork, is still detained at Swansea and prevented from sailing by the British Maritime and Coastguard Safety Agency.

The MCSA have no worries about the quality or structure of the ship, but are concerned about the safety equipment on board.

Recommended trainers have been brought in and the crew will have to undergo intensive safety training before the ferry will be given permission to return to Cork.
