U2 may play another gig after record ticket sales

There are calls for the review of planning regulations that restrict Slane to just one concert a year.

After tickets for U2's upcoming concert in the village sold out in record time.

Fine Gael says the laws should be changed to accommodate the thousands of fans left disappointed after the 80,000 tickets for the outdoor event were snapped up in 45 minutes.

Bono has already said U2 are willing to make a second appearance, if allowed to do so.

Fine Gael's spokesman on enterprise, trade and employment, Charles Flanagan, says even if a second Slane concert cannot go ahead fans would settle for another venue.

Mr Flanagan said Slane has proved to be successful and concert friendly and they are good operators there, but he added that if the concert can not go ahead there the thousands of fans who were left disappointed would settle for another venue.
